Medical needs and first aid
At Anglo-Portuguese School of London, we are committed to ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all our pupils. We work closely with parents and carers to support children with medical needs and to ensure that relevant medical information, medication and individual healthcare arrangements are appropriately recorded and managed. Parents and carers should inform the school of any medical conditions, allergies or changes to their child’s health so that appropriate support can be provided. If a pupil becomes unwell during the school day, they will be cared for by a member of staff and parents or carers will be contacted where necessary. In the event of an accident or injury, appropriate first aid will be provided and the incident will be recorded in accordance with the school’s procedures. Parents or carers will be informed when an accident or injury requires further attention or where this is considered appropriate. In an emergency, the school will seek immediate medical assistance and contact parents or carers as soon as possible.
How to inform the school of your child's medical condition or requirement to administer medication?
Contact the school administrator, Susan Spinola, who can advise you on which forms to complete via 0203 417 0905
If your child has a known medical condition such as asthma, epilepsy, allergies - you will need to complete an Individual Health Care Plan so that the school are aware of their medical condition and can support with the effective management of the condition whilst the child is at school. Your child will be added to the school's medical register once this information is provided. Parents must ensure that the school has the required medication on site prior to the child starting school. The School Administrator will check medications regularly and inform parents of expiry dates and requests for new medication.
If your child needs temporary medication such as antibiotics, paracetamol, or anything else prescribed by their doctor, please complete a Medication Administration form so that the staff know what to administer and when.
