Wellbeing Support

The wellbeing of our children and families is extremely important to us. We recognise that children may experience worries, anxiety, friendship difficulties, changes at home or other challenges that can affect their emotional wellbeing. APSoL offers a range of pastoral support and works closely with families and external services, including the Wandsworth Education Wellbeing Service, to ensure children receive the right support at the right time. We encourage families to talk to their child’s class teacher or a member of our pastoral team in the Senior Leadership team, if they have any concerns, however small. We can offer advice, early intervention and, where appropriate, help families access further support within the local community. Our aim is to create a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels listened to, supported and able to thrive.

School & local  support

  • Education Wellbeing Service (EWS) – an NHS service working with Wandsworth schools. For primary-aged children, it can provide early support for anxiety, worries, confidence, school-related difficulties and challenging behaviour. Importantly, there are programmes where parents receive 1-to-1 guided self-help to help their child, typically over 6–8 sessions.

  • London Children's Practice therapist – private therapeutic support available at APSoL for children. It includes one-to-one counselling as well as guidance for parents and teachers to help with supporting the needs of the child.

Contact the Principal of SENCO for more information 0203 417 0905.

  • Schools and Community Psychology Service – supports children and families with emotional difficulties, behaviour, psychological wellbeing, learning and additional needs. In most cases, parents start by talking to the class teacher, SENCO or another professional at the school, who can make a referral.

  • Family Information Service (FIS) – probably the best starting point if you're not sure what your family is entitled to or which service is appropriate. It covers family support, education, childcare, health, activities and relationships for families with children aged 0–19 (and up to 25 for young people with SEND). You can contact them on 020 8871 7899, Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm.

  • SEND-related wellbeing support – Wandsworth's current mental-health strategy highlights SEND in Mind, which provides practical and emotional support to parents/carers of children aged 0–19 with SEND, including help around anxiety, sleep, behaviour and parental wellbeing.

  • Holiday and practical wellbeing support – the council's HAF programme provides free activities and healthy meals during school holidays for eligible children, including primary-school children receiving Pupil Premium. The summer 2026 programme runs until 28 August 2026.

  •  GP – Your local GP should be able to assist and provide advice. Your GP can also provide access to other organisations and professionals.
  • Call 111 - You can call 111 when you need medical help fast but it's not a 999 emergency.
